TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN SAN JOSE FOR SEVENTH TIME SINCE 1997

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The NCAA announced today that SAP Center at San Jose has been selected to host NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament First and Second Round games in 2021.  This will mark the seventh time since 1997 that the tournament will come to the venue.  SAP Center will partner with the West Coast Conference and San Jose Sports Authority to host the event.

“SAP Center at San Jose is excited to be hosting the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament once again in 2021,” said John Tortora, Chief Operating Officer of SAP Center at San Jose.  “We’d like to thank the NCAA for, once again, selecting SAP Center at San Jose to host this prestigious sporting event.  SAP Center has a strong track record of hosting these types of events including, most recently, the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball West Regional held in March.  We are looking forward to partnering with the West Coast Conference and San Jose Sports Authority on this endeavor.”

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament has come to San Jose seven times since 1997 with all games having been played at SAP Center.  The venue held first and second round games in both 2010 and 2013 and West Regional games in 1997, 2002, 2007, and this past March of 2017.

SAP Center at San Jose also hosted the 1999 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Final Four in 1999.
