Updates to COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols at SAP Center
December 6, 2021
SAN JOSE, CA - In accordance with an updated health and safety directive mandated by the State of California and City of San Jose affecting “mega-events” which includes concerts, sporting events, and other shows, Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE) has announced updates to its guest attendance policy for SAP Center at San Jose (@SAPCenter).
Effective Thursday, December 9, 2021, all guests ages 3-11 who visit SAP Center at San Jose must be fully vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event. As announced in August, all guests ages 12 and older are still required to show proof of full vaccination upon entry. These requirements will remain in place until state and local health and safety guidance is revised.
The updated mandate, which was recently announced by the State of California, affects events being held at statewide indoor venues with attendance levels of 1,000 guests or more. The first event at SAP Center at San Jose to be impacted by the new policy is the San Jose Sharks home game on Thursday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. when the team hosts the Minnesota Wild.
Events held prior to December 9 are subject to the current policy, which states that all guests ages 12 or older must show proof of full vaccination to attend an event at SAP Center.
To avoid unnecessary delays, SSE recommends guests ages 3-11 receive a negative COVID-19 test result prior to arriving at SAP Center. For the convenience of guests ages 3-11, SSE has partnered with Total Testing Solutions to provide free on-site COVID-19 testing at SAP Center.
SSE has also partnered with CLEAR and their Health Pass technology to provide guests with a seamless and convenient process to show proof of full vaccination. For full details on current safety protocols and seamless vaccine and/or test result verification via CLEAR’s Health Pass, please visit www.sapcenter.com/vaccination. Full details on current safety guidelines can be found at www.sapcenter.com/safety.
For purposes of CLEAR, based on current health directives, guests of SAP Center are organized into four groups:
- All guests aged 14 and over: Each guest will need to create a CLEAR Health Pass account and add their proof of vaccination. If a minor does not have a mobile device capable of accessing CLEAR, that minor’s adult or guardian will be required to provide physical proof of the minor’s vaccination status at the facility. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include a physical CDC vaccination card or a Digital Vaccine Record, which can be found at myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov.
- All guests aged 12 and 13: Current City of San Jose health protocols mandate that all guests aged 12 and over must be vaccinated to attend an event with more than 50 people in a city-owned facility. Due to current best practices, CLEAR does not provide a Health Pass for 12 and 13-year-olds. Thus, adults or guardians with minors that are 12 or 13 years old will be required to provide physical proof of the minor’s vaccination status at the facility. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include a physical CDC vaccination card or a Digital Vaccine Record, which can be found at myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov.
- All guests ages 3-11: Effective December 9, proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test will be required for entry into SAP Center at San Jose. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include a physical CDC vaccination card or a Digital Vaccine Record which can be found at myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov. Acceptable forms or proof of a negative Covid-19 Test Results includes a physical or digital negative COVID-19 test result that shows the name of the person taking the test and the date administer.
- All guests ages 2 and under: Currently, there are no requirements related to vaccination status and/or proof of a negative COVID-19 test for guests ages 2 and under.
Guests should create a CLEAR Health Pass at least 24 hours prior to the event they will be attending at SAP Center at San Jose.
